Enhanced Security Using Smartcard Authentication

Version 25.03 of the Standard Agent for Linux introduces support for in-session smartcard authentication for Linux Clients running on Ubuntu 22.04 that connect to Linux agents. Following session establishment, Linux Clients running on Ubuntu 22.04 are authenticated using smartcards. Agents can also read and process smartcard information for in-session tasks such as document signing.

For the purpose of enabling smartcard authentication, a new parameter called pcoip.enable_smart_card has been introduced. When enabled, this parameter allows the use of PIN-enabled smartcards for session authentication, lock screen login, document signing, and other in-session operations.

For additional information about this parameter, see the Configuration guide.

Smartcard authentication provides an added security layer, and simplifies identity management within PCoIP deployments.
