Remote power

On Tera2 based PCoIP Zero Clients, the remote power off function can be access by pushing the power button briefly. This will bring up an on screen menu that can be cycled via the power button. The only power function available is Workstation Power Off which is equivalent to a 'Long Push' or 'Hard Power Off'

On Tera1 based PCoIP Zero Clients the Remote PC power button (see Figure 1 below) on some Tera 1 based PCoIP Zero Clients is used to remotely control the host PC/workstation's power management. It can be used to remotely power on (or off) the host PC - i.e. a computer with a PCoIP Remote Workstation Card (host card) installed.

Note: If the PCoIP Remote Workstation Card power button cable is not connected, the PCoIP Zero Client's Remote Power functionality has no effect. However, the host PC/workstation can still be powered down from the operating system (e.g., Start > Shutdown in Windows).

To remotely power up the host

Tera 2 based PCoIP Zero Clients

Press the power button to connect to the host. A Wake on LAN packet will be sent to the workstation.

Tera 1 based PCoIP Zero Clients

Press the Power button or Remote PC power button on the PCoIP Zero Client.  

To power down remotely

Tera 2 based PCoIP Zero Clients

Push the power button briefly

An on screen menu will come up with the options:

1. Disconnect
2. Power Off Workstation
3. Cancel

Press the power button briefly to select the correct option. If the power button it not pushed again within 5 seconds of the first push the default action is to disconnect. Each time the power button is pressed the next option is selected and the 5 second counter is reset.

Select Power Off Workstation. 

Note: Power Off Workstation is equivalent of a 'long push' or 'hard power off' use of the workstation's power button. This is not a clean shutdown and any work in progress will be lost.

Tera 1 based PCoIP Zero Clients

you can use the Remote PC button in two ways:

Short Push: (< 4 seconds) triggers soft power-off. A short push triggers the host PC/workstation to the desired power option as configured in an operating system's Power Options. For example, in Windows, typically, these options are available in Power Options under Control Panel:

• Do nothing
• Ask me what to do
• Standby
• Shutdown

Long Push: (> 4 seconds) triggers a hard power-off. A long push triggers the host PC/workstation to Hard Power-off if the Hard Power-off option is selected in the Administrative Web Interface.

You can configure the Client Power Button field on the Permissions > Power page from the Administrative Web Interface to initiate soft and/or hard power-off:

• Power-off not permitted: Pressing the Remote PC Power button has no effect regardless of a Short Push or Long Push.
• Soft power-off only: Pressing the Remote PC Power button for less than 4 seconds triggers (Soft Power-off) the power option selected in Power Options under Control Panel in Windows. Pressing the Remote Power button for more than 4 seconds triggers no action.
• Hard power-off only: Pressing the Remote Power button for greater than 4 seconds turns off the PC "instantly" (Hard Power- off). Pressing the button for less than 4 seconds triggers no action.
• Soft and hard power-off: Pressing the Remote PC Power button for greater than 4 seconds turns off the PC "instantly". Pressing the button for less than 4 seconds triggers (Soft Power-off) the power option selected in Control Panel.
