Updates of VMware Tools include a SVGA driver which may not be compatible with the version of VMware View. Hardware version 7 and above support a new svga driver. Ensure you have the ESXI matching version of VMware tools installed and perform the update in the following manner.

This ensures the correct files and components are updated by the appropriate installer.

  1. Update VMware View Tools.
  2. Hard power off the VM.
  3. Power on the VM.
  4. Re-install VMware View agent (or install new VMware View if applicable).
  5. Hard Power off the VM.
  6. Power on the VM.
