Which PCoIP products support Wacom devices?
Wacom devices are supported by PCoIP using 2 different connection methods. Each connection method has it's pros and cons and the most suitable should be selected for your scenario.
Bridged USB device
When using the Wacom device as a bridged USB device, the raw USB data is sent from the client directly to the host. The host sees the Wacom device as being directly attached, just as a physical machine would, and a USB device appears in Windows Device Manager or the Linux equivalent.
Pros
- Wacom software sees the device as it was physically connected to a PC.
- Full Wacom functionality
- Does not require any additional PCoIP support
- Works on any HP Anyware software that supports USB
Cons
- Only works on PCoIP sessions with a latency of less than 25 ms
- Mouse cursor is rendered remotely meaning the higher the network latency the further the mouse cursor lags behind the users input.
Locally terminated device
When the Wacom device is locally terminal, all input on the device is locally processed by a HP Anyware Driver and then sent of PCoIP to the remote host. This method requires a client and host with HP Anyware Software that supports locally terminating Wacom devices.
Pros
- Provides a better user experience in PCoIP sessions with greater than 30 ms latency.
- Mouse cursor is rendered locally and moves with users input.
Cons
- Not all Wacom devices work when locally terminated
- Requires additional HP Anyware software support
