Answer:

When a Macbook is configured with use all Fx keys as standard function keys and the client is in focus either in full screen or windowed mode:

  • If Fn + Fx is pressed the function is interpreted locally (e.g. brightness adjustment)
  • If Fx is pressed the client sends Fx to the host (where it is interpreted as the windows behaviour of Fx)

When the Mac is NOT configured with use all Fx keys as standard function keys and the client is in focus either in full screen or windowed mode:

  • If Fn + Fx is pressed, the client sends Fx to the host
  • If Fx is pressed the function is interpreted locally

Note: No configuration results in commands being interpreted locally and being sent to the host simultaneously.

The following Mac Fn key shortcuts are supported and interpreted from the host.

  • fn-Delete - Forward Delete (on a portable Mac's built-in keyboard)
  • fn-Up Arrow - Scroll up one page (same as Page Up key)
  • fn-Down Arrow - Scroll down one page (same as Page Down key)
  • fn-Left Arrow - Scroll to the beginning of a document (same as Home key)
  • fn-Right Arrow - Scroll to the end of a document (same as End key)
  • fn-Alt - Alt
