What does the "Network Link Down" message in the Event Log mean?
Problem
A PCoIP Zero Client or PCoIP Remote Workstation Card is having intermittent or persistent problems maintaining a connection to the network. The logs repeatedly contain the message:
0d,00:00:05.42> LVL:2 RC: 0 MGMT_NET :Network link DOWN
Cause
The network interface has detected the physical layer is down.
Resolution
If the Network link DOWN message is in the logs at unexpected times that co-inside with known periods of connectivity issues, try the following:
- Replace the network patch cables between the PCoIP device and wall port and between the switch and patch cable.
- Use a different network run if possible. Ensure the run doesn't go too close to high voltage power, 3 phase motors, light ballast, lifts or any other electrical device can is known to emit interference.
- Use a different port on the switch or test with a different switch.
- Ensure that auto negotiation is enabled on both the PCoIP device and switch. If it is enabled on one device but a static Full Duplex speed is set on the other, change the configuration so both devices match.
When connecting the Zero Client to Remote Workstation Card directly without a switch follow this KB. Using Teradici PCoIP Zero Clients and Remote Workstation Cards on Peer-to-Peer and Home-Run networks
