Should I use an initial image quality of Q100?
An initial image quality of Q100 will deliver the highest quality of image PCoIP can deliver. Q100 is not lossless, for a lossless image, build to lossless must be enabled. How to configure the Turn off Build-to-Lossless feature session variable in GPO
It is necessary to set the Minimum and Maximum Initial Image quality to Q100 when using a 3D display and the PCoIP Remote Workstation Card. Do PCoIP Remote Workstation Cards support 3D stereo technology?
Q level 100 is above the quality of perceptually lossless at Q 90. As a result of this, PCoIP can consume significantly more resources. When using Q100 the following may occur:
- Significantly more network bandwidth is required due to the very high quality of the initial image
- On network connects with insufficient bandwidth, lower than desired frame rates maybe used
- When using Q100 it is suggested that high bandwidth network connections are used and the minimum and maximum initial image quality is set to Q100. This will ensure that the initial image is always at Q100.
- If restricted bandwidth causes the quality level to drop below Q100, PCoIP imaging will reset. On a PCoIP Zero Client this will cause a momentary back screen.
For most applications, an initial image quality of Q90 is sufficient as the image will automatically build to perceptually lossless. What is "perceptually lossless" and how does HP Anyware determine it?
